Tigers Baseball Racks Up the Runs Late to Defeat Panthers
By Martin Phillips

It was kinda a wet week. A lot of sports games got postponed. It was a bummer last week, but pretty cool this week because we can still see some games be played. Actually nothing is over yet. District and regional tournaments will be starting soon. More important games are coming. Before any postponement or postseason play started, there a few games that took place. One was a Tabb baseball match-up against Bruton. Not to ruin the ending, but Tabb entered this small break feeling pretty good.

Tabb is a solid team and has been winning, but that doesn’t mean they just start the game off hot and just win it automatically. It was actually Bruton who started the game hot. Going up 2-0 by the end of the first inning. By the end of the third the score was 3- 0, Panthers. The next inning no one scored. It was a good lead. Tabb did not start doing anything really until the next inning, the fifth. I mean they were doing things on field, but it did not respond into runs until the fifth.

Tabb started to be a factor in the fifth and all innings after. In the fifth they brought in three runs, which indeed tied the game. Bruton was held from adding to their score. In the next inning Tabb doubled what they scored from the previous inning, which mean six. Tabb brought in six in the sixth inning! It created a large lead for the Tigers, 9-3. It was not over. In the last inning Tabb just kept on going. Seven runs they brought in, making the score 16-3. Bruton’s attempts were not finished though. In the bottom of the inning the Panthers brought in two runs, not enough to tie or end the game, but still doing well. The final score was 16-5, Tabb.

Standouts were Marello who went 1-5 with a double, 2 runs, and 2 RBIs, Bartells who went 4-5 with a double, 3 runs, and 2 RBIs, the winning pitcher Stover who pitched six innings while going 1-2 with a double, 2 runs, and 2 RBIs, Wood who went 3-6 with a double homerun 3 runs, and 6 RBIs, Martin who went 2- 5 with 1 run and 2 RBIs, and Brewer who went 3- 4. There a lot of stats. Everyone had a good game!

This week the postponed games will played and then the tournaments will start. If Tabb keeps playing like this they will surely be successful in the coming weeks!
