4th Annual Children’s Health Expo
By Jim Newton

4Expo imageSentara Regional Medical Center in Williamsburg was once again the site of the Annual Children’s Health Expo this past Saturday. The event focused on the numerous health and fitness programs that are available to the area children and served as an educational opportunity for children and parents alike to discover what medical and emergency facilities are provided by the medical center and the government and how each one functions. Tours of the center were available throughout the day. These tours included the emergency room, pediatric4Expo image2unit, surgical services department and the family maternity center. There were fitness and nutrition stations as well as prevention activities which included water and fire safety and safe sleep. The County of York provided one of their fire trucks for the children to climb aboard and have a look around. Also, an ambulance was available for the children to enter and see its emergency facilities. A real medical helicopter was parked on the tarmac and the kids were given a complete rundown of its functions by one of the crew members. In addition, there were face paintings, door prizes and many of fun activities for the kids making for an enjoyable day for all those children and parents in attendance.
