Celebrating the 237th Anniversary of the British Surrender at Yorktown
Submitted by John Hamilton

York237 imageThursday the 18th was cool and windy. Saturday the 20th was cloudy and rainy, but Friday, October 19th turned out to be a bright and sunny day for the Yorktown Day Parade. The annual event marked the 237th Anniversary of the surrender of the British to the Americans. The parade featured soldiers from the surrounding region, as well as marching bands and singers from the local schools. Plenty of colorful costumes added a touch of authenticity to the parade as well, and the Yorktown Victory Monument never looked more majestic. Even the French soldiers came to visit and pay their respects.
