York County and Poquoson Sports Weekly Recap
Submitted by John Hamilton

October is a busy month for high school sports in York County and Poquoson. Below is a recap of some of this week's exciting action:

1) In football on Yorktown Day (Friday 10/19), Tabb High defeated Grafton 34-0 at home at Bailey Field. Tabb improved to 3-5 on the year, while Grafton is 0-7 but continues to play hard each week.

2) Summit Christian Academy football moved to 7-0 this weekend as the undefeated squad defeated Heritage Christian Academy by a score of 49-30.

3) On Monday, 10/15 The Tabb field hockey team won a 1-0 squeaker to move to 10-3 on the season. Will the legenday program win yet another State Title this year?

4) On Thurday, 10/18 Poquoson defeated Bruton at home 58-0 to move to 7-1 on the year. However, it should be noted that because Bruton fielded less than 20 players this season, the school had to cancel half of its games. The remaining players continue to carry on valiantly.

5) On Wednesday, 10/17 the Poquoson field hockey team fell 3-2 at home to Grafton. Nonetheless, the team still sports a stellar 10-2 record with just two games remaining until the playoffs.

6) On Thursday, 10/18 York football lost a close one at home to Warhill by a field goal 17- 14, but remains at a strong 6-2 record.

7) The previous day (Wednesday, 10/17) the York field hockey team defeated Lafayette 6-0 in an away game to move to 14-2 on the season.

8) Finally, many of the sporting events are about to conclude their regular season runs, and it looks like York County and Poquoson high schools will be well represented in the playoffs this year.
