Poquoson Field Hockey Makes History and Other Sports News

PFH imageThe City of Poquoson is beaming with local pride as their girls field hockey team ran the table and won the Regional Tournament for the first time this century. First, Bruton traveled to Poquoson and was handed a 7-0 loss on Monday, October 29th. Poquoson then once again utilized a powerhouse offense and stellar defense and went on to defeat Lakeland by a score of 4-0. However, the big moment came at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 1st against local rival York (a 3A squad no less.) The supportive home crowd at Poquoson Middle School helped cheer the talented team to a thrilling and hard-fought 2-1 victory, and they became Regional Champions.

Also in the Regional Tournament this year was a close contest the day before Halloween on Tuesday, October 30th. The Tabb girls field hockey team lost to the home team York by a 2-1 score.

On Thursday, November 1st, Grafton lost a tough away game 76-7 against local powerhouse Lafayette.

Tabb ended its football season at 4-5 with an impressive 53-14 home win against Jamestown at Bailey Field on Friday, November 2nd.

York football defeated home team Poquoson in a 13-10 thriller to advance to the Regional Playoffs on Friday, 11/9 at home at Bailey Field versus the Park View (South Hill) squad.

Finally, in more good news for Poquoson, the city's team will have a home game against Nottoway for the first round of the football playoffs.
