York County and Poquoson Weekly Sports Recap
Submitted by John Hamilton

Well, the winter sports season hasn't even come to an official end, but we now already have tryouts underway for the spring sports season.

It was a really rough week for our valiant basketball squads. On Friday, 2/15 the Tabb girls proudly wore the orange, black, and white, but their season ended with a 43-33 playoff loss to I.C. Norcom of Portsmouth. The Bruton boys hoops tournament run came to an end on Monday, 2/18 in the quarterfinals of the regional tournament, as they traveled to Brunswick and lost 75-66. However, at 9-14 on the year, it was still impressive that they won in the first round. That same night the Poquoson boys proudly wore the maroon and old gold, but fell 46- 35 to Goochland. They also had won their first round tournament game. The next evening the Summit Christian Academy boys didn't fare any better, as they lost a neutral site tournament contest against Gateway Christian 49-42. They actually led by one point going into the fourth quarter. Also on Tuesday, top-seeded Grafton had an off night and lost to Lake Taylor 71-47 to end their season.

On the indoor track we saw some good news, as the Grafton girls ventured to Roanoke for the State Championships, and ran away with the Silver Medal in the 4 x 800 meter relay race.

Stay tuned for future updates on the spring sports season.
