Annual Veterans Day Ceremony Honors Great War Servicemen

On Sunday morning , 10 am, November 11, Airmen from JB Langley-Eustis 733d Logistics Readiness Squadron/Fuels Flight and Brownie Troop 1087 - Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast, joined with parishioners of Historic Grace Episcopal Church Yorktown (ca 1697), and visitors to the Historic Triangle , in the Annual Grace Church Veterans Day Ceremony replacing US flags on the 92 known Veterans buried in the Cemetery "with Honors"

Then at 11 am, participants also took part in the nationwide "Tolling of Bells" to honor those who served in the Great War (WW 1) and all Veterans. The Church's historic bell (ca 1725) was tolled by members representing Yorktown and the Church, JB Langley-Eustis, and the Girl Scouts. The Grace Church Ceremony was one of the nationwide events recognized by the United States World War 1 Centennial Commission in their listing of events to Commemorate the Armistice, ending WW 1, 100 years ago,.( 6 WW 1 Veterans are buried in the Grace Church Cemetery.)
