York County and Poquoson Weekly Sports Recap
Submitted by John Hamilton

The basketball season is off to a high-flying start in York County and Poquoson, with a multitude of games being played the past week.

The Tabb High boys basketball team hosted a thriller against Lafayette on Wednesday, 12/5, and the hometown Tigers scored two late buckets to secure a thrilling 62-60 comeback victory. However, the road wasn't as kind to the team, as they lost at Smithfield on Friday, 12/7 by a 71-63 tally.

The previous evening the Tabb girls squad also lost to Smithfield, this time at home, by a 51-39 margin. It was a tough week for the Tabb girls, as they also lost on Tuesday, 12/4 at Lafayette 44-26.

Meanwhile, the York girls are 1-4 to start the season, and the boys are currently 0-2.

The Bruton boys lost at Warhill on Wednesday, 12/5 by a 59-45 score, but rebounded nicely at home on Friday, 12/7 to defeat Lafayette at home 53-36. The Bruton girls lost both their games against the same two teams.

The Poquoson boys lost their first three games of the season, but broke through with two home wins. They defeated Warhill at home on Friday, 12/7 in a 46-45 thriller, and Hampton Christian the next night 40-37. The Poquoson girls are 0-4 to start the year, but are working hard to break through for their first victory.

The Grafton girls team is 3-3, and the boys team is off to a sterling 4- 0 start.

Finally, the Summit Christian Academy girls and boys teams each lost two games this week.
