Poquoson Football Crushes Bruton on Way to the Playoffs ... On October 20, the Poquoson Bull Islanders needed a second half comeback to defeat the Bruton Panthers 28-17 in Bay Rivers District play. As coincidence would have it, the two teams squared off again on Friday November 10 in the Region 2A quarterfinals of the Virginia High School League 2017 state football tournament with far different results. Tigers Field Hockey Falls in Overtime at State Championship Game ... It was a pretty big, last week, for field hockey. It was the state tournament week. Three schools in the area were in it, Tabb, York and Poquoson. There were games going on at each school and the state title game was played in Virginia Beach, which is not too far either. Each team did well for even making it to states, but this is how it all favored for our local squads. One team made it all the way to the state title game. Falcons Football Beats Park View ... Football is not over yet. I know it seems as though most fall sports are done by now, but actually some schools have football teams that still have games going on. Two in this area are still playing. The York Falcons had some rough flights occasionally this season, but have flown through the playoffs, so far. And the Poquoson Bull Islanders may have lost their last game to York, but still made the playoffs and won. The Islanders at home dismantled Bruton 62-0. It was no contest.
